Befikre Movie Review
Befikre is an entertaining movie with ample hints of innovation in Bollywood’s romance genre. Powered by wonderful leads Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, it definitely must appeal to young audience.
Aditya Chopra has chosen his romantic settings, actors and screenplay with great flair. Befikre is shot very professionally which definitely makes the theatre experience cheerful. Ranveer plays a Dharam Singh, a badass Delhiite who meets the bold and beautiful Shyra Gill (Vaani Kapoor) in Paris. The meet cute is adorable and audiences will definitely love the new found song and dance delightful.
But it would be a lie to say Befikre is a very good romantic film in a very long time. True it is bold, sensual and chic in delightful way. But clichés do prop up to temper the fun and excitement. Aditya Chopra films try to please all types of Indian film goers; from grandfather to teenager.
It worked in Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, it also worked in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi but not in Befikre! There are times of déjà vu while watching guilt pangs or motherly advice in this venture. The characters bold and brash attitudes do not exactly gel with the ‘Indian culture trademarks’ from Aditya Chopra.
If you go expecting a logical semblance in Ranveer Singh and Veena Kapoor’s characters as the story moves forward, you will be disappointed. But Befikre does justice to movie title as you will truly enjoy it if you go and watch as totally Befikre.
Do not expect wonderful cinema but watch it for lovely chemistry between Dharam and Shyra!
